Peter Webster Introduction Question 6
While reading the Introduction I realized how little so many people know about basic economics. It doesn't matter how smart the person is, they may not know much about the topic. I basically think of economics as how your actions will effect the society.
I found it interesting how Charles Wheelan described the tradeoffs that we deal with every day without even thinking about them. "The effect is a bit like a night on the town with Dad's credit card: We do a lot of things that we wouldn't do if we had to pay the whole bill" (Wheelan xxii). His description of our actions is accurate, as most of us-according to his example- do not think about the effect we will have on the world when we go buy some gas to fill up the car. A couple times throughout the intro, Wheelan talks about how individuals do not pay the bill for what they do, but society does.
